| Dream
imagery has been inspiring me for as long as I can remember.
Although I tried to portray dreams literally in the past, I now try
to sense the dream and record the energy of its experience. By giving
my unconscious a "hook" or theme to work with, such as my
present redifinitions theme, ancient pages theme, or the card, music,
pear or chair in the past, I allow the images to surface and layer themselves
in an almost hypnotic way as I work. I have explored many, many forms
of artistic expression in my career, from watercolor to woodcuts, monotypes
to paintings on canvas. Nothing to date has satisfied my particular
need for expression as has the mixed media collage. I feel as if I have
found my authentic vein of gold. I can layer imagery or make a minimalist
statement. I get to use my hands in a very tactile way, and I get to
use materials that have deep personal meaning to me. I truly believe
that art saves lives. It has surely saved mine.
I hope my art adds joy and mystery to the
lives of those who view it.
